The Shoreline Times just published another article on Brian's Hope, Hammerfest, and the fundraiser: check it out by clicking here.
This article was a follow-up to an article earlier this month on the "bet" between David Ellis and myself.
This past weekend, David Ellis and I traveled to Rhode Island to race the OCY Tri in Westerly. The conditions were wet and ugly, and the water was "angry", as Dave put it. Despite this, I had my best swim of the year, emerging from the waves with over a minute lead. I held this lead on the bike, and extended it on the run to win, with Dave posting a strong run to come in second. Fantastic race to get a feel for wet weather.
This concludes my three-week racing spree (with three encouraging wins) as the season winds down. It was a fun block of taper-recover-taper-recover-etc. that left me feeling fast, but sore and out of shape. A month ago I wasn't quite sure I could get here, having come out of 7 weeks in a cast. Though injuries can quickly halt a racing season, the last few weeks give me confidence that it can be re-started nearly as fast with determination.
Now I look forward to getting back into a more normal training routine until hitting the fall road races!
